Release as you made it to the end!

Aims

This is a wonderful stretch to finish with. It releases the muscles in your lower back and buttocks. It stretches out your upper back,shoulders and arms, and generally is has a wonderfully calming effect on both your mind and body.

Actions

  • From lying on your tummy sit both hips backwards until you feel comfortable
  • Allow both your arms to stretch out over your head, resting your palms on the floor
  • Breathe out and relax your jaw and shoulders
  • Rest here for as long as you feel comfortable
  • Release and slowly uncurl your spine to sitting.

Adaptations

  • Placing a pillow under your tummy can help support you
  • You can engage with you baby as you perform this

Care Points

  • Keep your weight balanced over both hips to protect your pelvis
  • Relax the shoulders down to open up your middle back area
