Twist & wring out the tension

Aims

This relaxing stretch helps to release tension in your abs, lower back and spine. This twisting movement also stimulates and rejuvenates the internal organs and can be "emotionally" cleansing. Give youself permission to truly let go into this one.

Actions

  • Lie on your back with both knees bent, feet flat on the floor and ankles together
  • Make the core connection and pull tummy to spine and open out your arms
  • Breathe out as you take both knees together over to one side keeping your lower foot in contact with the floor. Hold for 10-15 seconds
  • Release and slowly bring both  kness together keeping your core connection strong
  • Repeat to the other side

Adaptations

  • The lower your knees  are to the floor and by taking your arms across your body in the opposite direction to your knees, the more intense the stretch.
  • This can be done seated by twisting your waist around to the sidebut ensure that your hips stay facing forward and you sit tall in your spine.

Care Points

  • Keep both knees together through out this move to protect your pelvis from destabilising
